- Robert Bork passes away. Bork’s video rental history being leaked lead to the Video Privacy Act of 1988, just overturned by the House on behalf of Netflix. Bork also was the man who fired the special prosecutor during the Watergate scandals in 1973. Bork will be most remembered for his name…which now is a verb meaning…to defame or villify systematically in the mass media…
- A New type of kiosk called Brightbox is popping up in New York CIty. A fast-charge locker that costs $2.95, and will lock up your phone while charging, and only unlock with the same credit card you used to lock it in. Will be launching mobile apps to help you find a station. Will be expanding to other metro areas in 2013.
- Google sells Motorola’s set top box division to Arris. Guess there will be no Nexus TV.
- Nielsen will supplement TV ratings with Twitter.
- Ars poll indicates the majority of readers want a dual-persona smartphone.
